“Following her first Schumann album »For Clara«, pianist Jimin Oh-Havenith has now recorded two more CDs. The motto this time: »inSANE« and »wild-mild«. You can hear Kreisleriana op. 16 and the Humoreske op. 20 on the first disc, and Carnaval op. 9 and Davidsbündlertänze op. 6 on the second. Jimin Oh-Havenith’s playing has something riveting about it: in Kreisleriana, for example, she creates a very wide span from the first to the last note. There is never the slightest hint of a drop in the tension curve. The different sections follow on from each other as if they were just the other side of the same coin. In Carnaval op. 9, the pianist is committed to presenting the musical images as vividly and sensitively as possible without losing sight of the thread of the cycle as a whole. What fascinates me about her playing overall is the great energy and passion with which she performs. And she has once again worked, thought and felt her way deep into the soul and world of Robert Schumann. The result is two intense and captivating Schumann albums that I can only warmly recommend.” (Jan Ritterstaedt | schumannjournal.net| March 2025)
